Entrancing genre-bending improvised world music from an art-filled community living room.

Kamancello, comprised of Shahriyar Jamshidi, kamanche (Persian spike-fiddle) and Raphael Weinroth-Browne, cello, is an East-meets-West duo that blurs musical genre conventions and cultural boundaries with their highly evocative improvised performances. The scope of their creations ranges from soulful and emotive to incendiary and intense, and their sound has been described as being “totally entrancing.” Having made waves with performances at Montreal’s Place des Arts for Festival du Monde Arabe and Toronto’s Tirgan Festival at Harbourfront Centre, Kamancello released their debut album in fall 2017, to great critical acclaim.
